Beware of Rogue Traders!

Residents are advised to remain vigilant following reports of untrustworthy traders and gardeners operating in the area.

Please be cautious of anyone calling door-to-door offering gardening, tree cutting, hedge trimming, driveway cleaning, roofing, gutter repairs, fencing work, or other property maintenance services. Rogue traders often pressure homeowners into agreeing to work immediately, charge inflated prices, carry out poor-quality work, or demand payment before the job is completed.

To protect yourself:

✔️ Never feel pressured into making an immediate decision.
✔️ Obtain written quotes and compare prices before agreeing to any work.
✔️ Check reviews, references, and credentials.
✔️ Be wary of anyone claiming they have “spare materials” from another job.
✔️ Avoid paying large sums upfront.
✔️ Do not lend or provide your own tools, equipment, ladders, machinery, fuel, or materials to anyone carrying out work.
✔️ Ensure any contractor brings and uses their own equipment.
✔️ Ask for a business address and contact details.
✔️ Seek recommendations from trusted friends, family, or neighbours.

Please also keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be more susceptible to pressure-selling tactics.

If you witness suspicious activity or believe someone may be operating fraudulently, please report it to the Police via 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (emergency/suspect still on scene) including appropriate authorities. Please actively share information with neighbours to help prevent others becoming victims.
